About Oscar
Oscar Moncada’s interest in computing began at age 13 with IBM mainframes. He went on to study artificial intelligence in the early 2000s, well before the current wave of generative AI, and built a career spanning software engineering, infrastructure, cloud architecture, and technology leadership.
His experience includes technical and leadership roles at Mirum, FICO, and Events.com. At Events.com, Oscar led infrastructure as the company built and scaled its technology platform. He became an AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional in 2016.
Oscar co-founded Stratus10 in 2017 with Kevin RisonChu, where they worked closely with small and midsize organizations, gaining a practical view of the financial, technical, and staffing constraints that shape cloud decisions. He later co-founded Kalos and now leads its vision, product direction, and growth.
On Building Kalos
From cloud leadership to AI-powered platform
Through Stratus10, Oscar saw that many organizations needed enterprise-grade visibility into AWS without the headcount to maintain separate FinOps, cloud security, compliance, and platform engineering functions. Their challenge extended beyond finding data. They needed to understand which issues mattered, how technical choices affected cost and risk, and where limited engineering resources would have the greatest impact.
AWS offered deep operational data, but teams still relied on separate services, reports, spreadsheets, and third-party tools to interpret it. Recommendations often arrived without enough business or architectural context to support a decision.
It's those patterns that helped define Kalos. Oscar’s role has been to turn the needs of AWS customers into a product for lean teams, connecting cloud economics, governance, security, performance, and AI-powered analysis and automation.
