About Kevin
Kevin RisonChu began his career in systems engineering, Linux, and highly available infrastructure before cloud computing became a defined category. Over more than 25 years, he has led distributed engineering teams, complex technology programs, data center operations, and enterprise transitions to cloud infrastructure.
As co-founder and CTO of Stratus10, Kevin remained closely involved in AWS architecture and operations. His work has spanned migrations, infrastructure automation, security, compliance, performance, and the day-to-day realities of keeping production environments reliable. That hands-on perspective continues to shape how he approaches both engineering and product development.
Kevin co-founded Kalos with Oscar Moncada and leads its technical direction, translating lessons from years of managed cloud operations into software designed around the work AWS teams do every day.
On Building Kalos
From managed AWS operations to AI-powered platform
Working across AWS environments for Stratus10 clients gave Kevin a broad view of how organizations operate in the cloud. Each environment had its own architecture, business priorities, compliance requirements, and level of cloud maturity, yet the same operational friction surfaced repeatedly.
Teams had access to large volumes of AWS data but often lacked the time and context to turn it into clear priorities. Cost, security, compliance, and performance were reviewed in separate tools and workflows, making it difficult to understand how one decision affected another. And third-party tools just didn't provide the coverage and data they needed.
These recurring patterns became part of the foundation for Kalos. Kevin helped translate the practices developed through ongoing client work into a cloud management platform with AI built in.
